Fairfax Station’s recently restored Southern Railway baggage cart has been included among the nominees in the Virginia Association of Museum’s Top Ten Endangered artifacts program.
Online voting through August 31 will determine whether our nominee receives this special designation, which helps participating organizations in their fundraising and preservation efforts. More broadly, voting helps focus media attention on the preservation efforts among all Virginia and District of Columbia preservation programs, which generates interest from donating organizations and philanthropists.
Receiving a Top Ten designation will help the museum replenish the operating fund used to construct a protective shed for the restored cart as well as assist future upkeep of this artifact.
